The TBX Picosecond Photon Detection Module
TBX Photon Detection ModulePicosecond photon counting made easy

The Model TBX is a miniature, fully integrated, single-photon detection module containing all the electronics necessary to detect single photons with picosecond accuracy. This groundbreaking new product contains a fast rise-time photomultiplier (PMT), wide bandwidth pre-amplifier, picosecond constant fraction discriminator (CFD) and regulated high voltage supply, all in one compact, fully integrated package.

Don't confuse the TBX with integrated photomultiplier modules from other manufacturers - these modules can't compete with the TBX's time-resolution and stability.

TBX SchematicThe TBX's casing is machined from metal and gold-plated to achieve the highest level of electromagnetic shielding. Optical coupling is via a threaded tube which allows the focusing of incident light to be easily optimized while effecting a light-tight seal. We can also supply custom couplings to meet your requirements.

There are a number of different accessories and options available for the TBX including a thermoelectrically cooled version with extended red sensitivity.

The TBX is an ideal retrofit to existing fluorescence lifetime systems that still use side-window (e.g. R1527) and linear-focused (e.g. XP2020Q) photomultipliers, and is easer to use than a SPAD module because the active detection area is many times bigger.

The TBX can also be attached directly to sample chambers using a lens tube and filter holder assembly. Custom optics assemblies (based on our FluoroCube optics) can be supplied on request.

Microscope and fibre-optic adapters are also available.
