Vacuum UV Optics
With
the third generation storage ring the synchrotron source
characteristics were dramatically improved. In particular
the source brilliance is 4 or 5 orders of magnitude higher
than that obtained with the second generation storage ring
and the emittance is 3 orders of magnitude lower. This spectacular
source parameter evolution generates needs of new optical
substrates with better performance under high flux (lower
deformation) and new optical configuration to increase spatial
and energy resolution.
To answer to these needs HORIBA Jobin Yvon concentrated on three main activities:
- Conception of new gratings with better efficiency and lower stray light.
- Technical amelioration and control improvement to reduce grating and mirror slope error and roughness.
- Development and construction of new components that can be easily adapted in new generation beamline.
To achieve this goal HORIBA Jobin Yvon started a collaboration with LURE (Orsay - France). This permits us to:
- Develop new software for ray tracing and beamline optimisation.
- Realise software for grating efficiency calculation and parameter optimisation.
- Perform in-situ tests on VUV products.
